In the Shadow of Opinion (and all Gene Key Shadows, really), our minds run the show.
And not even our whole minds.
Our left brain, the hemisphere known for its capacity for logic, analysis, structure, order, and language, mostly runs the show.
When in the Shadow frequency, the side of our brain responsible for seeing everything as separate, distinct, classifiable “pieces” disproportionately shapes our beliefs, our worldview, and our reality.
Our left-brain-dominant minds have developed patterns to keep us safe that require that we judge and label to ascertain the level of danger everything we encounter may represent.
Only, we’re mostly not in fear of a tiger lurking in the bushes these days.
And what our systems judge as “unsafe” slashes through a wide swath of our reality, “othering” and separating us from our world.
As we’re developing during our first 0-14 years, we go through a few major phases.
The first, from ages 0-7, is when we’re like little sponges, absorbing everything we see modeled around us.
The second, from ages 7-14, is when our emotional systems begin to fully come online.
Then we enter the third seven-year development cycle from ages 14-21.
This is when our mental patterns begin to create the structure of our beliefs and worldviews.
Yes, our current reality is largely (if not entirely) shaped by our adolescent operating systems…
…unless we do the work to alchemize our shadows and discover the gifts that await inside of them.
The Shadow of Opinion has us see everything around us through scrutinizing eyes.
We see flaws and differences in others, focusing on what separates us
We constantly compare ourselves to others, generating a feeling of lack, low self-worth, and envy…and with social media, we’re now comparing our full reality to other people’s highlight reels
We attach ourselves to our beliefs and opinions – they become part of the fabric of who we are, which means that we then have to fight to defend these beliefs and opinions!
As we come to terms with the truth that “being right” or “certain” does not ultimately give us what we yearn for – love, belonging, intimacy, fulfillment – we can begin to see through our denial and understand that we are not our opinions and beliefs.
Dancing with the Gift of Far-Sightedness requires that we balance the hemispheres of our brains.
The feminine right brain allows us to see the whole, the bigger picture.
When the strengths of the left and right brain are in balance, we can perceive the whole AND all of its discernable parts.
This is where the true strength of the mind comes to play.
Logic and reason are only possible in context.
Without the context that the right brain provides, the left brain sees the world as separate pieces and only sees those pieces one at a time.
Without the balanced “field” that the right brain brings to the party, the left brain is only capable of creating a distorted version of logic.
It’s like we are looking at an infinite universe one star at a time.
When we foster whole-brain balance, we can bring the true gifts of logic online.
We can rise above the binary of “this or that”, “good or bad”, “right or wrong”, “your opinion versus my opinion”.
We can soften our lens of comparison and our need for critique.
And we can see a third way.
Or, rather, endless ways. Endless possibilities. All ways.
In the Gift of Far-Sightedness, the point isn’t that we no longer have opinions.
The point is that we are able to see the bigger picture and the distinct parts so that we can see MANY options and facets of an issue or situation.
And from that perspective, we are much better equipped to make decisions and loosely hold opinions (without attaching to them) from a place of truth and integrity instead of based on defending mental patterns that were constructed during our adolescent years!
As the Gift of Far-Sightedness develops inside of us, our 3rd Eye abilities strengthen.
Our intuition, wisdom, discernment, and more fluid, feminine gifts come online and provide a nurturing field inside which our masculine, left-brain gifts can flourish.
This gives way to a much stronger mental capacity, as well as an ability to work with our entire body-being to receive and interpret information.
In short, we have a lot more perspective as our doors of perception open.
We’re no longer looking at the universe one star at a time, although we can do that too!
We’re now able to see the entirety of the universe and how the distinct parts interact with and influence one another.
The Siddhi of Omniscience awakens full VISION in every cell of our bodies.
The full awakening of our 3rd eye results in Omniscience.
We are no longer the ones doing the seeing.
We become a vehicle for consciousness to see through us.
In this state, the need for opinions falls away.
Visuals I find helpful for understanding Omniscience:
We are a 360 degree eye that sees in all directions at once
The 3rd eye opening occurs in EVERY CELL of our bodies
Imagine looking through every cell all at once!
In some ways, we are already doing this. We’re simply not conscious of it.
From the Siddhi of Omniscience, we recognize that:
all paths, opinions, and people are perfect just as they are
our diversity is beautiful – we are all different facets of the same brilliant diamond
Omniscience does not assess or scrutinize or judge.
It simply holds and notices and perceives.
Everything is accepted.
Everything is perfect.
Everything is beautiful.
