The GROOVE journey explores the 9th Gene Key with the Shadow of Inertia, the Gift of Determination, and the Siddhi of Invincibility.
The Power of the Infinitesimal
Raise your hand if you’ve ever gotten to the end of the day only to say to yourself, “I was so busy today but it feels like I didn’t get anything done.”
We can easily get caught up in being busy with the details of our lives and our work.
We get distracted, pulled into meetings, our deep work is derailed, and pressing needs in our lives – the dishes, dog walks, and daydreams, can have us feeling really overwhelmed.
It can feel like we’re spinning our wheels if our tasks are not connected to a bigger purpose or mission.
This spinning leads to stress, anxiety, pressure, frustration, and BURNOUT.
Humans have a deep need to be of service, and to have a purpose in life.
The truth is, we can all be of service because we ARE our purpose.
Connecting with who we are and the unique quality and essence that only we can bring to anything and everything we do in life is the key.
When we are grounded in our purpose, it creates a sense of core stability in our lives.
With this core stability, we can evolve, flex, be fluid, adapt, and expand – all while maintaining a sense of integrity with the core of our being.
This sense of purpose and core stability also brings a new perspective on the “small” steps we take and the things we do each day.
When our tiny actions are aligned with and connected to our purpose, we are deepening the GROOVES in our brains and in the world with those actions, allowing for more natural rhythm and flow over time.
The deeper the grooves, the more natural and effortless our “work” becomes.
This is true for habits and neural pathways, and it’s true for purpose work and the things we wish to create in the world.
These “grooves” create channels of momentum.
With this momentum, our tiny actions build and compound.
When we look up, we’ve climbed halfway up the proverbial mountain without even realizing it!
The key to “taming the power of the small” is to have our small actions clearly and deliberately connected to our bigger purpose and work.
This includes work tasks AND life tasks.
When we have a clear mission, things like washing the dishes are in service to our greater purpose.
Side note: If you feel like you’re caught doing a ton of things that DO NOT serve your purpose, then check out the book Essentialism by Greg McKeown.
Highly recommend 👏
What’s true of all change and new beginnings is that there is some initial resistance and energy required to get started!
This is called “activation energy”.
In chemistry and physics, activation energy is “the minimum amount of energy that must be provided for compounds to result in a chemical reaction”.
In the pursuit of life goals, living our purpose, and behavior change, activation energy is the minimum amount of energy required to initiate and sustain that initial, unnatural-feeling behavior or action until a threshold of momentum is created and it becomes easy and effortless to maintain the new behavior or action.
I just wrote that definition, but I think it’s pretty accurate based on my own personal experience and my more than a decade’s experience studying behavior change, habits, and personal transformation.
🧐 I’m curious to know what you’d add or change to make that concept work for you. Leave me a comment & let me know!
When we move out of the Shadow of Inertia into the Gift of Determination, our tiny actions begin to build up and create momentum that deepens those grooves we’ve established.
It’s no longer a question of will or willpower.
Determination is a greater force that exists when we tap into our own natural rhythms as we move into living our purpose.
Our pursuit softens.
We are drawn to things instead of driving toward them.
We are flowing and fluid instead of forcing and fixing.
We attract and magnetize as much as we manifest and create.
Our feminine and masculine are in balance.
And this softening into our purpose allows every tiny step to bring us into a space of Invincibility.
Where there is nothing to do or defend.
There is nothing to prove or protect.
There is simply BEING.
Living in our highest natural expression.
And when we’re here, in the full magnificence that is living at our zenith as human beings, we are invincible.
